My husband and I work with an Christian Inner-city charity in Jamaica called Fusion Jamaica. We, with an amazing and committed team of volunteers, run after school kids clubs, youth clubs, day-trips and community connection events (festivals) for children and youth in the Inner City community of Trench Town. Our mission is to love, teach, humanise, empower and strengthen these children through the love of God.
The children we work with are amazing little people but many of them have experienced significant loss or violence. They live behind the eight ball in a rough environment, with little resource or emotional support. Yet they have a determined, tenacious, resilient streak which doesn’t falter. It is this resilient strength of spirit that keeps us all turning up in the weeks when (due to under-funding and under-staffing) almost everything else makes us want to quit. We are thankful for the army of people with us praying, volunteering, giving and encouraging us along the way as we do.
