In the Stillness

In the stillness

In the stillness

the steam from my cup

rises with a cymbal crash

In the stillness

the clock ticks

like a time bomb on the wall

In the stillness

my chest rises and falls

by the moon’s gravitational pull

Avoiding stillness of late,

has become my study, my mission,

my north-star leading me away from…

But still stillness creeps in

sliding into the cracks of my day

emptying out my emptiness with…

Stillness slips into

the echoey cavern around my heart

squeezing, massaging it to feel…

Stillness catches me out,

finding me alone

thinking of you…

still remembering your face

still listening for your laugh

still longing for your wisdom

still searching for those oceans in your eyes

In the stillness

I remember

you

still

  1. Wisdom remains, even a few seconds of stillness can remind us of that. But there are times when the grace of music can help us over the next step, making music, listening to music, even the music that spontaneously comes into the head. Being carried by music or taken by its hand can open a different stillness for as long as it lasts, and a little longer.

    God bless,

    Will

who will remember you at Mass in an hour or so.
