OCEANS
If I could wrap up the oceans
and enfold you in their tears
would their salty drops
encourage you to cry?
Would the rising swell of waves
crash awake your beating heart
allowing you to float up
on your feelings
bursting through the surface
of your silent grief?
Do not fear drowning
standing in the waters edge
fear only the pretending its not there
open your arms, your eyes, your heart
draw in your breath
chest-full with sea salt air
let the salt spray stick to your hair
and burn against your cheeks
let it trickle down your face
and drop into the sand
Inhale the ocean air
deep then deeper still
exhale the emptiness
let it all expel
breathe out the spent air
the lost time, the loss
Inhale the salty air of life
pricking you awake
calling you to feel
all that must be felt
to feel
alive
again
